The Great Brewer Game Summer Roadtrip
Wednesday evening Jim, Joe, Kristine, Lisa, 3XHAR, and I attended the Brewers vs. Marlins game (that's baseball for those of you not up on this, the most exciting of sporting events). Much pre-game feasting was enjoyed and all in all it was (to quote 3XHAR) "a lovely evening". To top it off, the Brewers won ...huzzah! While photos can hardly do justice to the festivities (including the glee of singing along to such diverse musical talents as The Partridge Family, Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon, and Paula Abdul) I have, nonetheless, posted an album of the evening's events. Look for it on the right under 'The Great Brewer Game Summer Roadtrip'.

Just look for the dancing 3XHAR
A new album has been added that captures the thrills and excitement of this season's Kilbot volleyball (specifically, the last regular game of the season). As the title of this post states, just look for the picture of the dancing 3XHAR (on the right).

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille
To break the monotony of staring at the walls, I went to see 'The 40 Year-Old Virgin' today. The full breakdown is in the appropriate section on the right. I urge everyone to go and see it ...depending upon how it does at the box-office I have a sequel of sorts to pitch to Hollywood ...'The 44 Year-Old Guy Who Hasn't Been With Anyone For Half-A-Decade' ...I figure I have some level of familiarity with the subject matter, so it should practically write itself.

"If you have a college degree you can be absolutely certain of one thing ...that you have a college degree"
Well ...it's twenty-some years later and I find myself re-entering the hallowed halls of collegiate learning. Having never completed my Bachelor's degree many moons ago (the University of Wisconsin and I had a difference of opinion re/expectations ...they expected me to go to class and pass exams and I expected to go out most nights and sleep in the next morning) I've hesitantly enrolled at Edgewood College under their adult accelerated program to work towards getting a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (BBA).
We'll see what happens. I'm not completely keen on dropping the amount of money necessary, but then again many (if not most) managerial jobs look for applicants to have a Bachelor degree (I guess having a piece of paper is more important than a proven track record of achieving managerial-level positions at most all of your previous places of business ...oh well ...what are you going to do?).
The program is structured into seven week sessions and I'll be taking one class a session, which equates to one night a week (perhaps I'll take two classes a session somewhere down the road, but with trying to find a new job and weaning myself back into a study-mode type frame of mind, I figure one is fine for now). Perhaps to better prepare myself for my return to academia I should queue up 'Animal House' on dvd, just to become reacquainted with college-life?

Stein Night topics - 08/10/05
Although not presuming to take the place of the usual post by 3XHAR re/topics discussed at Stein Night, here are my observations of the evening (and please, keep in mind that I've been a'drinkin') ...
2008 - Hillary vs. Cheney? (Woodward thinks so, 3XHAR doesn't) ...3XHAR loves the French - really, there's not a hint of facetiousness in that comment, really ...Bolton - kicking ass and taking names or an agregious diplomatic faux pas ...3XHAR's rants from the past week ...Cheryl Ladd has been hot for 35 years and still is ...3XHAR laughs in the face of things not good for him ...Movie night this Saturday at Broken Little Person's place - 'Blade III' is a definite, although we're having trouble finding a theme to tie into that (Wesley Snipes films - nope, not many of those to fill out a double-feature) ...Natasha is no Cheryl Ladd, but she's no chopped liver either ...The American bombing of Japan in WWII - an act of terrorism or an ultimate saving of lives? ...Hooking Broken Little Person up with contractors (but unfortunately not that kind) ...Aunt Jenny's gall bladder surgery ...Who spit on Lance? - the Germans or the French ...Not to change the subject, but the elf chick on 'Gauntlet Legends' is really hot ...A sure cure for mosquito bites - socks soaked in vodka ...Lisa's (not that Lisa, but the other Lisa) friend's brother-in-law owns a beach house, and the one next to it is being bought by Paul McCartney - Lisa has plans ...Joe's birthday wish? - an abundantly inebriated movie night watching 'Dukes Of Hazard' ...To Scotty!!! ...If it rains bears, 3XHAR and Joe are renouncing atheism ...To Evil!!! ...Speaking of evil, what's wrong with the Cubs? ...So, who exactly is this Wendy person ...Wendy knows Bernadette (and Matt) ...Randomness is an abstraction ...(A reminder for Kristine), Rowe International ...Lisa (not that Lisa, but the other Lisa) looks really REALLY good in black (although that Lisa probably looks good in black as well) ...A message from Jim - "Aseem Prust" ...Meet at the spot furthest east, that's the rule ..08/29/08 - mark that date ...Broken Little Person's observations in support of the Madison smoking ban are viewed somewhat skeptically by 3XHAR (i.e., they're hoo-hah) ...$58 to fill up the gas tank of the mini-van ...Speaking of min-vans, when will 'Dukes Of Hazard' show up at a drive-in (since Lisa, yes ...that Lisa, has agreed to see it under a drive-in scenario) ...$650 to repair 3XHAR's car - you know, that's 31-34 DVDs ...In terms of personal ads, Broken Little Person doesn't think that the byline "Homely, unemployed, overweight, and under-tall" would get that many hits ...The Reverend's top-secret placement of an Olsen Twin dvd at Joe & Kristine's, and the fact that Joe's niece now considers The Reverend to be Santa Claus ...Hypothetically, 3XHAR would have sex with a multi-national corporation ...Dave and Bill were (apparently) measuring each other's - well, you get the idea ...It's the last night for our waitress - she's moving to Rochester, MN (which is a lot more quiet) tomorrow ...Johnny Depp is on Kristine's "list", but only if he's not smoking ...Is that a white light in your pants or is there an angel down there? (and other equally cringe-enducing urinal pick-up lines) ...Say, Lori is really attractive (sorry, not a topic of conversation, but just a personal observation of Broken Little Person) ...We're all in awe of musican's abilities, particularly the ability to play multiple instruments ...Bluegrass is the only American music ...So, what exactly were those dates again that Joe and Kristine will be in Las Vegas? ...Worst and best concerts ever attended ...Forget if your co-workers are hot, are any of them myopic and desperate? ...The difference between Kristine's previous group of friends and us (outside of the fact that we feel no inclination to wear pants) ...Romance - the theme of 'Concerts on the Square' from the week before last and much of tonight's conversation - did I mention that Broken Little Person is one of the few single (and so terribly, terribly alone) people at the table - thanks EVER so much for pointing out that fact Jim.
My apologies if I neglected to make mention of any other topics contained in our insightful commentary ...ahhh, nothing like alcohol to set the tongues a'wagging.

Will Work For DVDs
So, in reviewing my economic situation I find that my summer vacation (i.e. my leisurely embracement of my state of unemployment) is nearing an end. The harsh reality of needing to pay rent and bills (not to mention keeping up on my weekly allotment of dvds) necessitates my beginning a more robust and immediate job search (of course, I'm rather adept at procrastination, so in this case "immediate" could mean within the next month or so, but we'll see).
Regardless, I turn to my circle of friends and acquaintances (and anyone they're affiliated with) to keep their eyes open and send anything my way. While I'm not painting myself into a corner re/only pursuing any one type of position, it would be ideal to find something that pays an obscene (which dictionary.com describes as "offensive to accepted standards of decency or modesty" and "so large in amount as to be objectionable or outrageous" ...you do the math) amount of money and only involves working 2-4 days a week ...let me know if anything like that crosses your desks.
Also, something with an intern would be nice.
